How do I make my transaction a success?
Clearly agree what it is that you are transacting for.
Buying or selling goods
If it is an item or good, what is it? What colour is it? And what is its condition? Confirm if it is damaged or suffering wear and tear up front and what this wear and tear is.
Paying or getting paid for a service
If you're paying for a service, agree with the person or business providing it what they will do for the money you are paying them. If it is an expensive service, you may want to sign a contract.
When you undertake a transaction on Shieldpay you will be asked to detail "What is it for?" ensure that the description you use is consistent with the good or service you have agreed on. If you have a contract then reference that contract.
Other tips
- Don't release the funds until you're happy with and have received the item you're paying for
- Check for reviews or feedback from previous customers when paying for a service
- Send goods buy recorded delivery, if you're posting them, and keep hold of your proof of postage
What if there is a dispute?
If a problem arises, seek help as soon as possible. Early advice can pay dividends rather than letting matters get completely out of hand.
Remember emails and messaging services may end up as evidence when someone is trying to get to the bottom of a dispute.
