A chargeback is a refund request made by the sender of the payment. They would send this request directly to their bank. Shieldpay does not decide chargeback issues, and we and the payee must accept the decision of the issuing bank as final and legally binding in connection with a chargeback.
We use validation metrics and tools available to us to reduce the risk of chargebacks and the Shieldpay Vault has been established to significantly reduce this risk, however, there always is a risk no matter how minimal. If a payment becomes subject to a chargeback or is reversed, the relevant party (not Shieldpay) will be liable for the amount of the payment together with any fees associated with processing a chargeback.
